In Home Parties

Add a fun and educational theme to your dinner party or other get-together that you host. A guided, interactive wine tasting is a great way to break the ice. And you and your friends will enhance your knowledge and enjoyment of wine. Learn what you like and why you like it.

Choose one of our suggested themes or work with us to design a program just for you. We work with you to make sure we meet your needs for type of program and level of complexity, and we can help you with wine selections. At the event, we invite participation by everyone as we explore the theme of the program.

Business Functions

Business functions need a session for diversion, networking, and team building. Nothing works better than a winetasting event. Participation is enthusiastic.

It is also useful from a business perspective. Your business representatives entertain clients at dinner. Enhancing their knowledge of wine will make them more comfortable navigating an unfamiliar restaurant wine list when hosting a business dinner. We can provide some tips at your event.

In addition, many clients have an interest in wine, making wine an interesting discussion topic at client dinners.

We will work with your event planner to design a program that fits your needs. If your meeting is at a hotel or other commercial venue, we will work with the venue’s staff to select appropriate wines for the event.

Choose Your Theme

Customized for You

We will work with you to plan your wine event. Any of the these themes can be customized just for you. Or we can work with you to design an entirely different theme. It will be as much fun for us as it is for you.

Basics of Wine Tasting

Just drinking wine is enjoyable. That’s why we do it. But you can add to that enjoyment by learning the basics of how to taste and evaluate wine the way the pros do. Learn how to observe the appearance, aromas, and flavors of wine and describe them using the language of wine experts. You will discover more about what you like about wine and why.

How Wine is Made

Wine is fermented grape juice. But how does it get from the vine to the bottle? We walk through the process, including sorting, crushing, fermenting, and bottling. Learn about how oak is used – or not – and what it does. What kind of vessel is used to age the wine, and why? Why are some chardonnays oaky and buttery and others aren’t? We will discuss some of the many choices that winemakers make to achieve the result they want.

Explore Your Taste In Wine

You have a wine that you like. But there may be some qualities of aroma and flavor about that wine that you like that suggest you might like other wines with similar qualities that you like better – or just as well. We can help you use your “flavor profile” to expand your wine horizons.

Old World/New World comparison tasting

Although styles of wine vary around the world, wines made in Europe (the “Old World”) and those made elsewhere in the world (the “New World”) often have distinctive styles. We compare Old World and New World wines made from the same grape varieties to demonstrate how they differ and why.

Wine around the world

Do you have a favorite wine variety – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah/Shiraz, Cabernet? Taste how expressions of wines from the same grape can differ at the hands of winemakers around the world.

explore the wines of a region

Do you like wines from a particular region – Tuscany, Russian River Valley, Willamette Valley, Northern Rhone, for example? Take a tour of the wines of that region, or explore a new region.

Learn How To Navigate a wine list

You host a dinner for your clients at a restaurant. The server hands you the wine list. You don’t recognize any of the wines. What do you do? We’ll discuss strategies for selecting the wines for you and your guests.
